Will definitely stay here again!!! Mount View Motel is located 2 minutes' drive from Hawera's town center and offers spectacular views of Taranaki Volcano. All rooms offer free WiFi. We did not have breakfast at the motel but im sure it would have been excellent.

We took a 10 year old and a 12 year old and stayed at the museum all day. We all absolutely loved it. We enjoyed King Edward Park. The watertower beckoned but we were unable to climb it as earthquake strengthening was not yet completed. Retail staff in Hawere were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed walking the streets in the early evening and spotting things we would not see a home. We didn't eat out as we had the excellent cooking setup at the motel. The hawera central motor lodge is excellent.
Hawera cafe and bakery has great coffee and very good food. Nice scenery. Excellent and clean park King Edward with good walking area through its garden and with very good children's play ground I was visitng family who live close to town centre and the motel I stayed at The Park Motel was very conveniently located - about 1 minuite drive away or 10 minute walk. I didnt have time to visit the beaches or surrounding attractions but will do next time I visit. I did have time to take kids to the Aquatic Centre Sat afternoon and that was well worth it - with good heated inside pool, thermal pool kids can also use it , and hyrdo slide was operating although extra cost to use it.
Bit windy and not warm enough day to use the outside pool but it looked really good when weather nicer. Kids had good time. Good central location for the Taranaki district, and the mountain. Waihi Beach is a great spot to photograph at sunset, especially when the tide is out.
On a clear day, Opunake and Wiremu roads provide a fantastic view of the mountain. Gull service station Waihi Rd has the cheapest petrol - avoid the others. I was on a work trip, so didn't have much time to explore. However, Hawera is a pleasant semi rural community, with a reasonable range of shops. You are quite close to Mount Taranaki and this makes it ideal to discover the Taranaki National Park area.
Brought up in Hawera, my siblings and I attended the local Schools. Great place to live and work, schools are great too. This visit I took ready made food but for breakfast we had McDonald's Breakfast. Yes there are no parking machines in Hawera, the shops are great, a cinema,the water tower, a swimming pool, parks and a beach only 5 minutes on the coast road. Maunga Taranaki is an attraction for those who ski or just want to walk tracks.

A very clean and spacious room with a filling and good valued breakfast brought to the room right at the time requested. I will always choose to stay at The Park when in Hawera. Exceptionally clean and tidy. Toiletries etc were of hotel standard, with extras like shoe polish etc, which are usually not found in motels. The complementary biscuits and cookies are a very personalized touch.
