Our trip up the Dart River was excellent with us reaching some incredibly high speeds before performing spins and sharp turns. Once back in QTN, we got in our campervan and headed for Fairlie. We thought it better to start the journey to Christchurch today, rather than have a hr drive the following day. The drive was quiet with us seeing only a handful of cars on the km journey. We set off for Christchurch at approx 11am as we wanted a nice steady relaxed drive before dropping our campervan off at We stopped off at Ashburton for coffee and lunch and arrived in Christchurch at approx Despite flying from Christchurch to Auckland, to catch our flight to London we had to check in at the International Terminal to get a special flight which went direct to the International Terminal at Auckland.
Our flight from Christchurch was delayed by 40mins, which got me in a panic as we only had 50 mins to get from one plane to another when at Auckland. We arrived at the International terminal at Auckland and ran to our gate which was showing as closed on the screens and we set off for home…….. This holiday was simply amazing — I was overwhelmed from arrival to departure by the magnificence of this country. Other than Sand flies I cant think of a single bad word to say about NZ.

Pleased you are returning. After 2 days you don't notice! Also Raglan and Kawhia are wild and wonderful and very arty communities. So did you see the huge eels swimming along with you in your inner tube? Why do you think they tell you to switch your helmet lights off ;. Did you spot the trout swimming around in the pools below the dam before the gates were opened. You have to wonder how they cope when their world is suddenly turned upside down with the huge rush of water. The transit lounge in LA is a shocker isn't it, you were lucky you had a nice immigration officer, I have yet to find one there.
It's only that one midnight flight into LA that uses the lounge. That Memorial near Hokitika is not cave creek is it? About 13years ago now. A truely terrible and tragic accident,and one i will remember for the rest off my life. There is a memorial book at Punakaiki info centre.
Unless there are two memorials Wondera I don't think so. There is one at the beginning of the walk into Cave Creek but you have to walk a fair way in from the main road at Punakaiki before you reach the CC walk. It's a beautiful walk and it's hard to reconcile the horror of what happened with the beauty and silence that surrounds the area. Is the memorial the one in the photo below? Cave creek is north of Punakaiki , it's a beautiful but very sad place. Thats the memorial we saw, although I cant remember seeing the detailed plaque you have also provided the link for.
